A DAY IN THE LIFE
Nothing better than a Day at the Beach.....

The amazing thing about life is that we adapt to so many things. When things are going well, we adapt to the good things. When things are not going well we adapt to the bad things and oftentimes determine that we can get through just about anything. I've acquired certain catch phrases that apply to these situations. "be like a duck" comes to mind. Let things roll off your back. I have a new employee who is from the Islands and his motto is " no worries". Of course, we'd all like to adopt that concept and many of us try to do just that by escaping in our own ways. For example, I enjoy watching sports, as do many people. I also find relaxation in music. I can clean or paint and feels relieved to a certain degree. Looking out over water has the same calming affect that it has had on millions. We all need to adapt to life as it troughs fastballs and curve balls at us. No worries, mon. Everything gon be ire.

Too long part deux
It's been way too long so many things and so much to do and say. I remember writing daily. I remember having too much to say. Now I sit and wonder where has the time gone? Milestones and memories, boxed up standing there alone in a cold, damp room. Old photos, books, records, papers. What is worth what? Faded pages and broken pencils. Scrambled and crumpled, torn and broken, ripped put and never replaced.

March
Quiet serenity. Sunday mornings. Spring starting to peak through. March is here. Sun is getting stronger. It is staying light out longer. Spring ahead. Baseball is beginning. Watching Ralph sleep so peacefully puts things in perspective. Colors are brighter now. More blues and greens. Black and white. Good morning. Good night. Great day. Positive thoughts. Positive actions. Quiet moments. Smiling inside.

Flood, Linsanity, Champs and more
February has shaped up to be quite the month thus far. Floods, Linsanity, a Giants Super Bowl win, employment problems, house buying......whew, and it isn't over yet!
We will start at the beginning and the Giants. After limping along most of the season they finished very strong with key wins over the Jets and the Cowboys in December to clinch the NFC East. Because of their record they did have to play in the wild card round and managed to beat the Packers and Niners. And then it was all about the repeat of SuperBowl 42 with a date with the Patriots. No sweat, same result as before. The Giants won! Incredible.
Now the flood. The Friday before Super Bowl, I returned home from work to notice water in my parking space. As I opened my front door I head the sound of, what appeared to be a garden hose, spewing water. As I stepped in the living room of my townhouse there was at least 4 inches of water everywhere. Yes, everywhere. The water heater had burst and was spewing water for who knows how long. Panic ensued. Finally I called the plumber and received enough information to stop the water flow. The damage, however, had already been done. Two weeks have passed and the house is in a shambles. Insurance adjuster and phone calls have been made and I am waiting to determine how to fix everything. Life sure is interesting at times, huh?
The night after the flood Taylor, Austin and I went to the Garden to watch our lowly Knicks. They were playing the Nets and at the half were down. We were enjoying he game and noted that D'Antoni was playing Jeremy Lin, essentially the last guy on the bench. The Garden began to buzz as Lin and the Knicks began to attack the basket and began to come back against their cross river rivals. After all was said and done Lin scored 20+ and ignited the team to the win. The place was insane with excitement. Over the last two weeks Linsanity has taken over NYC and the country for that matter and they've won 8 of 9 with Lin playing incredibly well. Time will tell but it is exciting to be a Knicks fan once again.
Pitchers and catchers reported to spring training in Tampa yesterday. Hope springs eternal for the Yankees and for everything else!
Can't wait for the next few weeks to see what happens next, good things I know!
Peace out

One day
What doesn't kill you will make you stronger. As cliches go, this one oftentimes is overused, however, there is spo much truth to it.trying to remain positive in the face of whatever turmoil one is challenged with becomes easier as time moves on. I can reconcile myself to remain calm and know that somehow, some way I will get through this,. Whatever it days am confident that through it all I will survive. I am much stronger today than I was yesterday.so bring it.

gracefully
I've been looking in the mirror and I don't like what I see
Never noticed that there was an old man staring back at me.
I look at old pictures and remember the way it used to be
Sometimes I want to step away and grow old gracefully.
I can't remember where I placed my keys but I remember so many yesterdays vividly
wasting time and chasing rainbows, never dreaming I'd be here
shooting hoops under the summer sun with no one to stop me and no one to fear.
Sometimes I want to step away and grow old gracefully.

Gee Gee's VolleyBall 2009- Grandma's Gang
2009
8/19/2009
Last Game. And a very good victory. One minor injury with almost tears. Excellent front line play by McGowan. And yes, I will say I played well. Ok so I grabbed the net a little, big deal. Gotta give the co-MVP's to McGowan and Grandma. I had fun and I hope we all did, even through all the complaints.
8/12/2009
The skies were cloudy and ominous on the beach last night. Wind wreaked havoc with any ball served. The competition was not that good. Grandma's Gang dispensed with them easily, winning both matches within 25 minutes of the start. MVP's- The Wind and McGowan. One more game remains.
I believe we are 5-3?
8/5/2009
No Chuggs, No Tara, No Gina to cheer us on but we held our own winning the first game against a very good team and then losing the next two 21-19. Disappointing but no big deal.
C0-MVP's Keith and Drew.........great job!
7/23/09
Ok so we are 4-2 after a very tough loss last night. We played a team evenly matched to us. There were incredible volleys and everyone played well. Me being the weakest link, even played pretty well. Ok so the other team looked to hit the ball to me alot. Sorry, I am trying to get better.
Last night's Co-MVP's Brianne and Taylor. both for their intensity and fine play. A special award to Tara for showing up and playing as well as she could in a slightly impaired condition. We will get them next week.
2008
Ending the season on a win is always a good thing. With a final record of 7-3, the Gang failed to make to playoffs however learned valuable lessons about the need to win those early games. Great season...sorry I missed the games but the afterparties were awesome......
